Nothing but Amazing by Josh Thorell

November 25, 2018 - 2018 Operation Bandhu

These past few days have been so amazing. The kids are the kindest people I have ever been around and I have come to love them very dearly. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a special experience from hearing other peoples stories but I don’t think I ever truly understood how awesome these kids are. Everyday when we arrive at our village the kids are waiting at the end of the street. They are so happy to see us, and it’s very funny and cute when they say my name. “Jasssss jasssss”. The kids have so much energy it’s crazy. Sometimes they are hard to control, but most the of time they are very respectful and kind.

Not only are the kids very nice, but the older ladies too. During our village tours the ladies we meet are so kind and offer us all different types of things. Some of the food I have got from them has been interesting, but most of it I have enjoyed. We have puffed rice and coconut at every house and it is very good. Today during one of our village tours one of the older ladies hand us a naked baby. We were all dying, and when we thought it couldn’t get funnier, he started peeing on Isaac. It was so funny.

India is so much different than the US and it make everything more exciting. Such as driving. Let’s just say there is never a dull moment in a car in India. I don’t know how they don’t crash. I find it very fascinating. They’re have been times where were going around 40 mph and are like 2 inches away from bikes and other cars that are oncoming. I have gotten used to it now, but the first couple times I had some sweaty palms and was gripping the handles.

You can’t help but love these kids. They have the sweetest hearts and are so kind. Some of them have been through and are going through very hard stuff, yet they still have a very positive outlook on life. I think we can all learn something from that, and know that if these kids can do it, we can do it. Our problems are nothing compared to what they go through and it can’t help but have sympathy and love for them. I love these kids with all my heart and hope I am making a difference in their lives. I miss you all very much, and can’t wait to share all my experiences with you when I get back.

I love you all very much!
