Growing up in America is cool and all but I think I’m going to have to stay here for the rest of my life. The experiences and connections that I have made in the last few days have been absolutely eye-opening. I love how genuine and loving the kids and people are. The culture and people, whether its waving at us when we pass on the bus, or coming to walk with us to the schools, everyone here is so kind and compassionate.
The kids, I don’t even know where to start. They are absolutely amazing and I actually cried out of pure happiness for probably the first time in my life. It has been so eye-opening and amazing to see how bright these kids are and how much love they have to give. Unconditional love is a beautiful thing and even though I’ve only known these kids for a few days, I feel like they have so much of my heart. I think the best thing about it is when we come walking up in the morning, they are all looking at the far end of the fence to see where we are and as soon as they see one of us they freak out and run to the front. I love it, gets me all teared up before we even get there.
India is absolutely stunning. There are so many people here that all live different lifestyles than ours in America. One thing that really stands out to me is the people, like I said before, I can’t believe how nice everyone has been to us. It must be a little weird seeing a group of 26 rowdy white teenagers chilling in a village of like 40 people. But they all are so welcoming and kind. The second thing here is the scenery. I’ve never seen anything like it before. On our drive to the school we can see the white capped Himalayan Mountains in the distance, it’s absolutely amazing. So far, this has been one of the most amazing and eye-opening experiences of my entire life, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip has to store for me.
Sending love back home,
