May 30, 2019 - 2019: vada ka yuva
Day One of Showering:
Since we were told that there was warm water for showers, I thought that the red faucet meant warm water. Once the freezing cold water came out, I was too tired from traveling, that it didn’t even register in my brain that there was another faucet. 30 minutes later, I completed a cold shower which included me trying to avoid the open window (worried that someone was looking at me), trying to get the shampoo out of my hair by sticking my head under the two foot faucet, and not realizing that there was a little cup to make this process 100 times easier. Who knew that there was warm water and a cup in order to rinse my hair. At least I got to tell everyone what not to do… but apparently everyone already knew.
Day Two of Showering:
I thought I was a lot smarter going into this second shower, but apparently I am still uneducated. I filled up the bucket with the water from the hot faucet thinking it would be lukewarm, yet I burnt myself once I stuck my hand in. Who knew there had to be a balance between the cold and hot water. Once I got the balance right, I once again forgot that there was a cup that I would be able to use to wet my hair… yet of course I made everything harder by sticking my whole my head in the bucket. I pull my head out to hear my roommates Haidee and Kinsey laughing their heads off because of the huge splash they heard. They asked me what had happened, and I told them with no shame, thinking I was being extremely efficient. I will never be able to let that one down.
So what I have learned so far is that I am not supposed to force my head below the faucet nor stick my whole head in the bucket… hopefully I will get it right tonight. Third times a charm.
