June 14, 2019 - 2019: Asha Ki Chamak
Day 4 in India and we are thriving! Between the cold bucket showers, the constant heat, and the sickening bus rides every morning, I’m having an all-around blast. But in all seriousness, this has been the single most humbling, eye opening experience I have ever had in my life, and I’m already dreading the day I have to leave.
One of the best parts of the trip have been the schools. I’m sure everyone else will say that they have the best school, and the best kids, and the best village team, but they’d be lying because I actually do. Meeting the kids, the teachers, and the locals around the schools, has been so amazing, and I feel so much love for each and every one of them. Even through the tough times of controlling the youngins, and combatting the difficult language barriers, I have never been happier then when I’m teaching these little rays of sunshine. I know that these kids have impacted me in ways that I cannot describe, and I just hope that I have had a similar impact on them.
Although the schools are amazing, they definitely aren’t the only experiences that we have here. One of my favorite things about trips have always been chilling/screwing around at HQ, and this is no exception. With a group like this, how can you expect anything else. With late night cards, the passing of fruit snacks, and talks of horse sized ducks, I can rest easy knowing that these are some of the best people that I have ever met. We’ve shopped, danced, sang, laughed, cried, and done yoga together, so I’m not sure how you could get any better of a group. And I haven’t even mentioned the leaders yet. Chris and Marce my official India parents (sorry mom & dad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ), Tim is the fun uncle, and Carrie, Stacy, Gretta, and Sheryl are some ofthe most loving women ever! And Raj is just the coolest guy ever.
I don’t want to type anymore though, so that’s the end. Thanks.
Also, the driving here is wack.
I want to see a picture of a horse sized duck. I’m looking forward to some late night cards at Flaming Gorge. Be sure to get some footage of the wack driving.
Thanks for the Father’s Day wishes.
I would also “dread the day I had to leave”, if it included a 14-22 hour bus ride.
