March 26, 2019 - 2019 Operation: Sapna
Alright! Blog #1! After what felt like 2 weeks of travel, we finally made it to our destination. Our hotel is alright but I saw the two biggest spiders of my life within a few hours of being here. Not the best welcome party. My roommates and I decided to triple spoon on the one bed rather than make one of us sleep on the floor. We also lined the entire room with bug spray. Safe to say we don’t like spiders very much. We also decided to leave our lights on all night so if there ever was a spider, we’d be able to see it and analyze the situation. Because of this I woke up around 12:30 and thought it was 8. That was wrong. When it actually was time to wake up at 7, my room’s alarm went off to “Crazy Train” by the great Ozzy Osborne. We got ready pretty fast and went to the schools. My school, Lalsa, only had 10 kids today. So, we taught them 2 at a time. This was pretty nice and made teaching quite a bit easier. And these kids are great. Apparently Lalsa is a lot nicer than the other schools. Our day seemed pretty eventful but was about nothing compared to everyone else’s. Quite a few of the operation had to teach outside, so all but 2 or 3 of the guys are sunburned. It’s not very fun. We also bought our “native clothes” (I guess I should call them?) and now we’re heading to bed. Mom, I’m healthy. Madi, I’m very sorry. There’s a bunch of stuff I said I’d do but didn’t. Real sorry. Just have someone put on my lax hoodie to finish the montage and photoshop a picture of the rock in front of Skyline in the one clip. Thank you! Hope everyone is well at home! Goodnight! – Porter
Oh how luck you are to be in the best school ever! Lalsa is so beautiful and the kids have such a special place in Steven and my heart. Also you are super lucky to have Madi as you big sis! She is the best. Good luck with the spiders there. They really are the size of puppy dogs but the locals say they don’t bite. 🤞
Haha! You are so funny! Just picturing Three spooning at night! Haha love ya porter!
DUB!!! Holy cow I can’t tell you how badly I wish I was in India with you. But here I am, half a world away and there you are, making me feel so lucky to be your big sister. I’m proud to know you. Take pictures. Be generous. Hug your kids so so so tight. Leave it all in India so when you come home you don’t regret a thing. I love you to the moon baby brother!!! I can’t wait to hear your stories.
PORTER!! love seeing your smile! I know you are NEEDED there and that you are doing great things with the students and in your team. We miss you and we are so PROUD of the work you are doing! keep smiling, keep working hard and give it ALL to India 🙂
I’m so happy to see that smile! I don’t know if I’ve seen it like that since Argentina! Just snuggle with the spiders.
Dub Dub! Glad to hear you met the welcome party I sent you. We’ll need to take a trip to India someday so you can show me Lalsa. I’m proud of you, Dub. Love ya.
