Here We Go Part 2 By Tyler Murrill

Here we go-pt.2

Well, I did it. I made it all the way back to India. Even though the travel was a little bit longer, it’s still every bit worth it. We flew from SLC to Dallas, then Dallas to Doha, Doha to New Delhi, and from there we had a 14 hour bus ride that was actually one of the most fun bus rides I’ve been on. After all of the travel, we made it to our hotel. This year, our hotel is called Hotel Vikrant in Kullu, Himchal Pradesh. The first day in the school was every bit as magical as last year. Getting to meet all of the kids, and them gradually warming up to us is one of the best things that can happen to someone. For our first day, we had tug of war and the kids were much stronger than we expected. We played the teens against all of the kids and they won by a landslide every single time. We came back to the hotel and then got to go shop for our dress clothes. I don’t want to spoil anything, but all of the boys look pretty great. After that we had some incredible food and got to go to bed soon after. For the second day in the school, all of our kids were much closer than the previous day. On the way up to the school, our bus stopped working for a quick second and we all had to get off so they could move the bus and then we got back on. In the actual schools, it went much smoother. Everyone was ready and knew a little bit of what to expect. For my lesson I got to teach manners. We got to have a tea party with lemonade and Cheez-its. Instead of drinking the lemonade and eating the crackers, the kids decided to dip the crackers into the lemonade. I might have had some weird food combos before, but this was one of the weirder things I’ve eaten. It wasn’t great, and I wouldn’t totally recommend Cheez-its dipped in lemonade. After lunch, we finished our education rotations and had about 30 minutes to play with the kids. We tried to play ride that pony and down by the banks, but the kids just wanted to climb all over us. I ended up holding 5 kids at once and had kids jumping onto my back at random intervals. Today I was reminded of why I signed up for round 2 of India. After school we took the bus back, got to see one of the best views I’ve ever seen, and are now chilling at the hotel. Some people are playing Charades with each other and some people are blogging. So far so good, and I’m excited for the rest of the trip. Also, Emily isn’t getting her lanyard back for a while, and I wish all my friends could be here because this is the best trip someone could take. Signing off for now, Tyler Murrill, who hasn’t killed any minecraft horses yet.
