School Teachers, Wedding Crashers, and More…By: Bentley Arndt

November 20, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar

When we woke up in the morning, we didn’t know we would almost be run over by a bus and be wedding crashers. We woke up at 7:00 AM sharp and all the boys got downstairs before a single girl got out of their door. We had naan, eggs, and potatoes. After we packed our lunches, I let Oakland and Mclelan (McKelle) use my biscoff. Then we were off to the 0/420 school. On the way there we got into two staredowns. (It’s a one way street so they’re two buses that stare each other until the other one backs down). We won both times. When we got to the school, we started to play with them. We play double-double a lot and they love high fives and bones.

We start our lessons around 10:30. Before that we teach them the attention getter and the song. I taught adjectives today. Its hard for them to understand the difference between the apple on the flashcard and that its supposed to be smooth. English might be the hardest subject to teach, but it will be a good challenge. After the four lessons we had lunch and the rice and it was AMAZING!!! I’ve never eaten so much rice and curry in my life. I have always enjoyed being with kids. So this trip has been an amazing experience for me.

Fast Forward three hours. We were on a bus and Raj said we couldn’t bring any valuables and we had to be very modest. We ended up going to a wedding and everybody stared at us. We danced and had some Coca-Cola. Then we watched some rituals and the we almost got hit by a bus. Just kidding but it was a mediocrely intense situation. Until next time.
