This past couple days has been absolutely amazing! We did so many fun activities and were extremely preoccupied with fun! When I came here I thought teaching would be a trial however, it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I truly fell in love with teaching these kids it is honestly a blessing that I found myself on this exquisite adventure. I love serving. I love serving so much because it is a selfless act. I love the pure joy I got to see everyday while teaching on this trip. I know that there have been some days where I am just not feeling my best but when I get to go to the school and see these kids just uprightly be the best version of themselves and truly be able to use their God-given gifts to the best of their ability just makes my day and turns my frown upside down. The best way to get someone to like you is to save them. Service is the best and most ultimate gift that you can gift to someone. My favorite so far. My personal favorite day has been Thursday. Thursday was so amazing because we gave the kids their hygiene kits and school supplies. You may think that we just gave them the kits and then moved along with our day. That can’t be even further from what happened. When we gave these kits out at the end of our teaching day, these kids completely lit ups and burst out with joy! I honestly did not expect them to react the way that they did. I didn’t even hand the bags out yet and they were ballistic! I was so surprised with how their faces just melted with joy and benevolence. All the kids came up to me and were just so grateful for such a simple gift. I really couldn’t wrap my head around how grateful the kids were over just a few markers and a toothbrush. It is so lovely to see the joy in their faces. Throughout this trip, I have found much more time to reflect on myself and discover new gifts and talents about me that I never knew I had. I didn’t know that I was anywhere near capable of teaching really young kids, or any kids at all. Turns out, I was pretty good. I won’t leave you all with a whole novel to read so i’ll summarize the rest here. My first impressions of India: It smells really bad, there’s no such thing as deodorant and sometimes toilet paper. I really love the culture! I love how they truly love and accept guests from other countries, it is so heartwarming. The food is amazing! Even though it is the same thing everyday, I love eating the same thing everyday and I would for a long time. We have had curry, and tikimasala for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday and it is so good, although a good steak sounds really good right about now. Everything here is extremely cheap. 83 rupees = $1 (U.S.) I love that we didn’t bring our phones. We have all connected on a way that never would’ve happened if we brought them, its been amazing! Conclusion Thank you for taking the time to read all of this! I miss you all and deeply appreciate all that y’all have done! See you soon! —— Tyler Mauss
