A Circus of C-Words By: Calvin Stirling

November 21, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar

Jambo!! I am so glad to have this wonderful opportunity to write to you all tonight. These last three days have absolutely flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting on a bus for sixteen hours, and we are so close to having to do it again.  Learned today that we only have three teaching days left and I was shocked. I have had such a great experience this trip and I don’t want it to end.

Today, I was the activity leader, and I got to preform eye exams for all of the children at the school, and there must be something in the water because they were amazing. There was only one kid that had any trouble reading the bottom row. As part of my duties today I got to read the book of the day called C is for Clown by Dr. Seuss. I highly recommend this book. It is a challenging piece of literature and it kept me engaged till the very end. Another thing that I got to do today was help out with the other teaches lessons and one of those lessons involved paint. As I was helping, there was this kid DIvianshu that every time I pronounced his name wrong, he would paint me. By the end of the day, I looked like a Jackson Pollock.

A few months before we left, I had some doubts about whether or not I should have come on YMAD. I was worried about all of the school that I would miss and all how big of hit my social life, but the second I got off the plane, I knew this is where I was meant to be. I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity that I have had to serve and to focus on helping others and putting them before myself and the excellent break that it has been from everything back home. Love you all and I hope you have a great next three days!
