B.RAD’S BLOG

For someone whose mouth never stops moving, and who seldom finds himself at a loss for words, I’m struggling to adequately describe this amazing adventure. On the surface, everything about this country seems in stark contrast to what I’m used to. But at its core India is full of people. Amazing, wonderful people. And people are, for the most part, the same wherever you go. And that similarity allows us to connect with everyone we’ve met on levels none of us would have ever imagined. The impact that this group has had on four different schools and close to 150 students is significant. And as special as that is, I believe it pales in comparison to the growth and development we have all experienced. Having worked with youth for a number of years, there’s nothing I enjoy more than placing them in difficult situations. Situations that are sometimes overwhelming, and watching them consistently rise to the occasion. And these teens did not disappoint. As the sun begins to set on our time here in India, there is so much about this place I will miss. To everyone who supported us on our journey, many thanks. For those who might be curious about the experience and may want to see for themselves, I strongly urge you to do so. To the students of Dugielug and our translators, you will be missed but not forgotten. And to my fellow YMAD peeps, live like they drive in India! (Original quote by Anna Burgess)

  1. Thanks for sharing Brad- We are so grateful for you, as a leader and a friend, for the culture you have created for your group. Sharing your growth stimulates their (the teens) own recognition of how much this service effects the giver as they see their work and the affect it has on the little children. We are excited to hear all about your adventures when you all return!

  2. Live like they drive in India! So…. don’t be afraid to go outside the lines, constantly honk (be communicative), be creative and proactive in reaching your goals and destinations, and yes, you might receive a few bumps, dings, scratches and lose your side mirrors! You found your words perfectly. Thank you for guiding our kids so well on this awesome adventure!
