November 24, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar
on friday i was the group leader and i got to help jake the medic with all the medical exams of the kids. i measured them and made sure their age was documented and sat with them while they were checked out. they honestly get cuter every day and i love them more everyday. after we finished the medical exams monica and i finished up our mural and it turned out so cute. i loved helping the kids put their hands on the wall to add to it. after school that day there was a betrayal. very heart wrenching. sanjeev walked with owen and i’ve honestly never felt more hurt in my life. haha just kidding but sanjeev is still the cutest tiny man i’ve ever seen. (and he did hold owens hand not mine:/ )
yesterday we had our cultural exchange. we went to a private school here in kullu and it was honestly really amazing. they have head boys and head girls and prefects just like in harry potter and that was way cool. clara got them all talking about shawn mendes and we came to find out that their head boy sings just like him. the school had kids from kindergarten to 12th grade so we got to talk to some of the older kids and see what their lives are like and their interests and things like that. me and one girl bonded about how much we love friends and how joey is so cute. there were a lot of kids who participated in the cultural exchange and a lot of them sang and there were a few dances. it’s pretty cool to see how american music is really popular here too. when we did our songs and dances the kids looked pretty entertained, especially during let it grow haha. so all in all the cultural exchange was a cool experience.
today we did a hike up to a temple. basically if you know me i am definitely not the biggest fan of hiking. so i’ve been sorta sick the last few days so that made the hike even more difficult. luckily i had jake the medic to save the day. i really was not loving it but once we got to the top, like they always say, it was totally worth it. the temple was cool they tied red string on our wrists and it symbolized protection. you’re supposed to let them fall off organically so hopefully i can keep it on for the show in a few weeks. the mountains were AMAZING. i love the mountains so much so i’m glad we’re here in the himalayas. the hills were definitely alive. it was nice to be up there surrounded by so much to distract from how i felt. i love love love it here and i am so sad we only have a few days left 🙁
