So…. We eat chicken a-lot hence the name of this blog. The food is really good though. I was real worried coming into this trip that the food would not be very pleasant but the wonderful cooks of ours make amazing food. We even had French Toast one morning.
This trip has been amazing. At this point in the trip we only have a week left and it feels like we have only been here for a few hours. It’s been an absolute blast. I have gotten to know everyone and i’ve been opening up to everyone far more and i believe it is being beneficial to me as a person. I love everyone in my group and my amazing leaders.
Today, we went to Raj’s Daughters school and did our cultural exchange with them. The students of that school were very musically talented and were some of the nicest people i have ever met. It was very cool to see some people around my age interact with myself and others. It showed how similar we are in some respects. I learned a lot about the culture of India through the traditional dances and the way the welcomed us. They are truly a grateful group of people and seem to be accepting of everybody no matter who they are. It makes me want to bring some of that back home with me and try to make the area i live in more open minded and accepting of everyone.
We also went to the market today and interacted with some of the locals and got to buy some stuff if we pleased. Kullu is considered a fairly small town by India’s standards but i have never seen so many people packed into one place. So much hustle and bustle going on around. I bought some cool nail clippers.
Today was the first day we haven’t taught at the schools so far and it has been a nice little break but i am very sad to think i will only be seeing those kids a few more days and wished we could’ve been with them today. The kids truly have been as much a teacher to me as i have been to them and i just love them so much. They are innocent and pure and filled with good intentions at heart; even though they can be little stinkers at times. I am so excited to continue teaching them and see how the rest of this trip goes.
