Last few days in heaven/By Tessa Torgersen

November 29, 2023 - 2023 Operation Moksha

I wrote my last blog two days ago, so I don’t have as many things to talk about from the last couple of days. But it still sure has been super eventful and fun. We finished our mural, and it looks really good. We added houses, flowers, bugs and the kid’s fingerprints, along with our village groups hand prints and names. After that we got to go do some yoga at a temple. Normally I’m not the biggest yoga fan, but right before we left for the trip, I went a bunch of times and grew to love it, so I was really excited to do it here in India. My dad loves yoga and always tries to get me to do it with him, so I can’t wait to tell him all about it. The view from where we did the yoga was a beautiful view from up on the mountain looking over the river and hills. The yoga was super peaceful and calming, and I think we all have been super tired and sore from sitting on the ground all day, so it helped us to all feel a bit better. Afterward we got to do a bracelet ceremony and go through the temple. All the bracelets are string, mine is red and yellow and orange. If you take the bracelet off before it falls off naturally, it can be bad luck, so I am glad to have something to take home and always have with me from India.

After we went to yoga we went ziplining. We got to go to the longest and highest zipline in India. It looked terrifying when we got there and I almost didn’t do it. It was rainy and cold, and we were told it might even snow. But since everyone else was doing it I decided to. It was super fun. We got to go down one way, and back the other. I kind of wished it did end up snowing while I was going across because it think it would’ve looked really magical and I miss the snow from home. But it was still amazing.

Today we had our cultural exchange and last day ever seeing the kids. Although I feel done teaching because the kids are so insane, I am really going to miss the kids. Especially Girish, the boy who I’ve talked about in my last two blogs. I wish there was a way to keep in contact with the schools to see how all the kids are doing and to find out if Girish is doing ok. I am really going to miss all the kids but am excited to walk around Manali, see the new hotel, and head home.
