I Found My Muskan
Well here we are in Kullu. It is so much different than Jibhi. There are people everywhere, cows are walking in the road and there are cars honking at each other all the time. I miss the peacefulness of Jibhi but it sure is an adventure here.
Tomorrow is our last day of teaching and it has been exhausting but a blast. These girls were so much friendlier from the get go then the girls in Jibhi. I had a hard time leaving a girl named Muskan in Jibhi but as soon as we did introductions in Kallu, I did not just find one, but two girls named Muskan. It felt like a little piece of home. One of the Muskans clung to me all day. She would always say, “Ma’am please sit here,” or “You look so beautiful.” I even found hearts that she drew that said I love Liz. During the first day she thought it would be funny to start calling herself Liz and calling me Muskan. At the end of the day, her and Sapna started tearing up when we had to leave. I finally had to have it translated that we would be back tomorrow. However, I got super sick and ended up having to stay at the hotel the whole second day. So when I came back today, I was greeted with lots of hugs and smiles. It is moments like these that make this adventure so great.
It feels like we have been in India forever, and yet it is going by so fast. There are many things about America that I miss: air conditioning, fresh fruit and vegetables, home cooked meals, dry hair and my friends and family. However, there are so many things that I love about India. I love the beautiful people everywhere you turn, colorful houses, being in the Himalayas and the love that I feel from the girls here. India has been an adventure and I cannot wait to see what else is to come.
I miss you guys so much but I will see you in one weweek. I cannot wait to show you all of my pictures and give you the cool things I have for you. I love you all!
