More Breathtaking than Keanu
The last few days have been an absolute blast. The kids are getting closer to all of the teens and each day we have with the kids is better than the last. On Wednesday I got to teach feelings and emotions to the kids. They thought that pretending to cry was hilarious and got the hang of it pretty quickly. Our kids are way smart and are doing a really good job of learning all the English we teach them. On the way back to the hotel later Raj hopped on and told us that he had a surprise for us. I don’t know how, or who he knows that let us, but we got to go crash an Indian wedding. There was a bunch of music and food and the bride and groom were taking gifts and pictures with guests. We got to dance for a little bit, which was super fun, and then we got back on the bus. Driving here is an experience all by itself. The drivers know their cars and buses like an extension of their body. Every day we drive up or down the mountain ends up with our bus driving within inches of another car or bus. After the wedding we went back to the hotel, had dinner, which was amazing, and then had the bonfire and slept. On Thursday I was the group leader at the school, which means that I walked around and kept everyone on schedule, took pictures, and helped our adult leader with whatever was needed. At the end of the day, we had a dance party with the kids. I used Lilly’s speaker and just started to play music and the kids started dancing. It was so much fun to see how much the kids were enjoying it. It wasn’t a lot, just some music, but they were having the time of their lives. Eventually some kids climbed on the roof of the bathroom and were spitting water on people. Afterwards we got to paint a mural. We painted an ocean complete with jellyfish, regular fish, a turtle, and waves. Our kids were watching us when we started and left before we finished, but two of our kids came up as we were painting and just watched us paint. When we left the school and were waiting for the bus, me and Aidan went to a little shop to get candy and chips. The bus ride down had one of the best views on the entire trip. It was later, so there were lights all over the mountain. These mountains are huge, and from where we start the ride is up high enough to let us see down the entire valley. This place is amazing, and I’m so glad that I decided to come back after last year. Despite being two trips to the same country, the two have been incredibly different but even better than any other experience I’ve had. Today we had a cultural exchange with our school. The parents of the kids showed up, and they and the kids were in lots of fancy clothing and jewelry. After lunch the parents and kids performed dances for us, and after the dance presented us with hats and scarves. Every minute here is amazing, and I’m sad that we only have two more days with the kids. Until next time, Tyler Murrill, who still refuses to play homescapes.
