See You Soon! – By Sandon Sperry

Tears were shed this day! I wasn’t planning on crying but given todays events it was almost inevitable. My team and I had to say goodbye to our school and ashram children. Walking away from them for the last time broke my heart. These kids have made lasting impressions on me that are truly hard to express with words. The love they gave and gratitude they expressed towards us has been an amazing thing to feel and watch and I feel so blessed to have been a part of their lives. I had no idea how attached I would become to these kids! We sang “You’ll be in my Heart” to the kids minutes before we had to leave! It was rough. Saying goodbye in Hindi implies that we will never cross paths with them again. It is almost rude. So we said Kalmelenge. Which means see you soon. I really hope that is true.
But this trip though! I have never laughed so hard, worked so hard, felt so much love from so many people, and cried so much in such a short amount of time in my entire life! Hahaha. The people of India have stolen my heart! With that being said. I am looking forward to returning home! It is very bittersweet to feel so sad but also happy about leaving. I really miss carpet…and snow…and bed sheets.

I am excited about the fun filled days ahead! We will get to see the Taj Mahal and ride elephants and it all sounds really fun!
